Description

Benzaiten is one of the protagonists, along with Tammy and Bix. Tammy currently lives with Bix and Benzaiten while staying on Neptune. Benzaiten is also the owner of Rosie the rosy maple moth. They are a skilled mage with a knack for flashy magic. Though human in appearance, Benzaiten is not a human because of their ability to perform magic!

Personality

Benzaiten is parental towards anyone who needs guidance from someone else, even if they aren't exactly sure what the solution to those problems are. They are also typically very lenient with their expectations of others. Benzaiten always makes sure to look out for others and provide their sympathy towards those who need it. At the same time, Benzaiten struggles with discipline and putting their foot down because they don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

As Benzaiten is a nurturing soul, they are very willing to teach others what they know. Though, they are admittedly not the greatest teacher. Typically, Benzaiten has a lot of patience and forgiveness for most people. Benzaiten also appreciates hard work and grit. They are a firm believer of working hard as opposed to cheating, and gets easily annoyed at anyone who won't respect that. Benzaiten's abilities are a source of pride for them because they were hard-earned and genuine.

Along with being empathetic, Benzaiten is cheerful and typically in high-spirits. They like to share stories about themselves and their adventures. Like Tammy, Benzaiten takes a lot of pride in their abilities. However, they do not lack self-awareness like Tammy, and can tell when they've taken their gloating too far.

When others criticize Benzaiten's behavior or express concern for them, they are usually dismissive towards these concerns. Any sort of criticism can also cause them to lose their temper, believing they've outgrown most of their flaws. Many of Benzaiten's ways of expressing aggravation could even be considered petty or childish.

Background

Benzaiten is from a town called Amburn on Mars. Most of Benzaiten's childhood was spent living in Amburn, until they left at seventeen to explore the world. After visiting most of the eight planets, they decided to settle down in Neptune. The Mayor of Ice Burg lent Benzaiten one of their unused residences as a favor to their father and Benzaiten.

Rosie, Benzaiten's pet rosy maple moth, was also taken in my Benzaiten when they lived on Mars. She was found as a baby moth that couldn't fly, so Benzaiten took her home and named her Rosie. Clearly, Benzaiten is not good at naming anything.

Benzaiten's main source of income comes from selling plants in the town market. Usually, this can bring in barely enough income to pay for expenses. However, when it doesn't, Benzaiten resorts to looting the domains of the Spider Disciples. By selling the treasures found in these domains at the night market, it can cover leftover expenses.

Relationships

Tammy

Soon after Tammy met Benzaiten, Benzaiten was more than happy to let Tammy stay with them while Tammy embarked on her quest to godhood. As Benzaiten is Tammy's primary caretaker on Neptune, Tammy looks to Benzaiten for advice and protection. Benzaiten was also very quick to see Tammy as one of their own. Even though Bix didn't want Tammy to live with them, Benzaiten was much more concerned for Tammy's safety on another planet.

Though Benzaiten believes Tammy has a lot to learn, they are willing to teach Tammy what she doesn't know. Both Benzaiten and Bix are much more experienced with adventure and danger, but Tammy comes along anyway for a learning experience. However, Tammy has a lot to teach Benzaiten too. Benzaiten's ways of dealing with criticism are very petty and childish. Tammy tries to help Benzaiten through these flaws, but can get annoyed when doing so.

Ghost

Ghost sees Benzaiten as an idol and a powerful sorcerer. Many people in Ice Burg remark on Benzaiten's magical talent, so naturally Ghost wanted to become their student. Once Ghost tracked down where they lived, he kept badgering Benzaiten to teach them powerful magic. Benzaiten, however, gets annoyed Ghost's constant requests to be taught magic. They think Ghost is a sweet kid, but they also believe Ghost needs to work on actually tapping into magic before Benzaiten can teach him anything.

Abilities

• Besides magic, Benzaiten also has a passion for gardening and botany, which is why they run a plant shop.
• Benzaiten is shown to have natural talent for magic, which has been honed expertly. They can perform many different types of spells.
  • Because Benzaiten is an accomplished sorcerer, they can perform highly advanced spells such as teleportation magic.

Trivia

• Some Martians tend to have an affinity for taking care of animals. Both Benzaiten and Carmine share this trait as Martians.
• Benzaiten's favorite color is green.
• An extremely old version of Benzaiten's design was meant for a horror story.
