Description

Carmine is a stubborn, but well-educated individual with many skills and talents. After living on Mars for most of his life, Carmine took an apprenticeship on Neptune. Carmine works under Mascarpone at a tailor shop, learning to master the intricate work of tailoring. Although he claims to only be friends with Tammy, he usually hangs around her friend group too.

Personality

Carmine is best described as an intelligent, but stubborn person. Since he attended school on Mars, Carmine considers himself as more well-educated than the people around him. Often times, he will boast his abilities and pick fights to prove a point. When Carmine is proven to be wrong, he usually refuses to accept responsibility. This will also most likely lead to him being salty.

As part of the Acerian species, native to Mars, Carmine follows a very conservative cultural beliefs. He is very adamant in his ideas, and also tends be upfront about his harmful beliefs... Even while he is surrounded by the people he claims to hate on Neptune. Despite Carmine's "hatred" for those types of people, he will still willingly hang around them. Funnily enough, Carmine still pretends he doesn't want to be there.

Towards certain individuals, Carmine is rude sharp-witted towards people he doesn't see as equal. He takes every opportunity to make sarcastic remarks, seeing himself as morally superior. Carmine is especially rude towards Bix and Rinna, who according to him are "dangerous". This seemingly stems from the fact that both of them are Shapeshifters whose abilities could be used maliciously. Carmine is not afraid to make mean-spirited comments about them.

Even though Carmine does not take kindly to Rinna and Bix, he is not as aggressive towards individuals with a similar social status, such as Tammy and Ghost. He even goes as far to show a softer side to his mentor and Tammy, who he can trust with that side of himself. When his close confidants are hurt, Carmine does express concern. Carmine is not perfect in his more sensitive approaches, but it is definitely an improvement. When Carmine is not busy being arrogant towards people he deems as inferior, he has a very big appreciation for the arts and literature. Though he is not very public about said appreciation.

Carmine can actually be a very good leader when he's not busy being stuck up. Because of his extensive knowledge, self-assured personality, and good organizational skills, Carmine is very good at leading others out of danger. He just needs a little bit of nudging in the right direction to get him to actually do it.

While Carmine still has much growth to achieve for himself, he does secretly yearn to be closer to Tammy and her friends. But it is likely he fears social discrimination more than the desire to be accepted by them. At heart, Carmine is a much kinder person than he portrays himself as.

Background

Previously, Carmine lived on Mars in the Everred Forest, native to his species. In the Everred Forest, Carmine attended school and took part in the school's baseball team and academic clubs. His school experience was cut short after his parents got him an internship at a tailor shop on Neptune. Tailoring is considered a very stable career in Iaia due to the vast amount of body types throughout the solar system. People pay good money to get their clothes fitted to them!

When Carmine met Tammy, he had only been on Neptune for a little over a month. Consequentially, he didn't have many friends other than Tammy.

Relationships

Tammy

Though Carmine was a bit distant at first, Tammy and Carmine actually ended up becoming friends. Acerians and Humans are at a similar social status, so Carmine allowed Tammy to have room to make her own impression. Carmine admires Tammy's charismatic personality, especially because she still wants to be friends with Carmine despite his flaws. In Tammy's eyes, he has the potential to be a better person, even if he doesn't know that yet.

After Carmine and Tammy started hanging out more often, Carmine began to warm up to her. Carmine feels safe around Tammy and trusts her, as she is the only person on Neptune he considers a friend. According to him, this is partially because Tammy reminds Carmine of his older sister. Due to this, he also tends to be more forgiving towards Tammy's mistakes. Tammy often invites Carmine to hang out with her and her friends even though he isn't as close to them. Carmine is pretty open about his dislikes, but Tammy tries to encourage him to give more things a chance. Tammy will usually defend Carmine when she needs to, and vice versa for Carmine.

Bix

Carmine tends to get into much more fights with Bix than anyone else, since Bix is a fire elemental. In more conservative cultures in Iaia, they tend to follow a social hierarchy where Acerians have a higher social status than elementals. Because of this, many Acerians view elementals as despicable primal creatures who aren't intelligent enough to use their abilities wisely. The two will constantly challenge each other, even considering each other rivals. Bix is not usually an outspoken person, but due to Carmine's spiteful behavior against Bix, both of them are usually working against each other.

Carmine and Bix will often be rather petty towards each other. They'll make rude, unwarranted comments, or sabotage each other just because they don't like the other. Carmine may make up reasons to criticize Bix, such as that he will only use his shapeshifting abilities to impersonate others (however shapeshifters generally are considered neutral). Although, their hatred for each other does come from different places. Carmine's hatred comes from a place of naivety and fear. However, Bix's behavior stems from the fact that Carmine views Bix as inferior. Thus, Bix wants to prove that he isn't.

Rinna

Even though Carmine holds more of a grudge towards Bix, Carmine is also bigoted towards Rinna. Both Sirens and Elementals fall under Acerians in the social hierarchy that some conservative cultures follow, which come with some stereotypes about them being beastly creatures because they appeared in Iaia long before Acerians. Occasionally Carmine will make up reasons to villainize Rinna and Bix, such as that those two will only use their shapeshifting abilities to impersonate others (though it should be noted that shapeshifters generally are considered neutral).

When Carmine and Rinna first met, he refused to let Rinna make any first impressions and already decided how he felt about her. Because of this, Rinna doesn't see Carmine as one of her friends even though he's usually around their friend group. Rinna also refuses to change her opinion on Carmine because of how Carmine views her. She will act aggressive towards Carmine and not take him seriously at all. Likewise, Carmine is dismissive of any of Rinna's emotions.

Carmine holds more of a grudge towards Bix than Rinna because Rinna is taller and stronger than he is.

Abilities

The Acerin species do not have any magical abilities. Carmine still posses a wide range of talents.

• While he is still learning, Carmine is skilled at adapting and editing clothing. Occasionally, he will edit his own clothing, like his jacket.
• Carmine is also a bit physically stronger than most of his peers, as he was previously much more into sports.
• Though Carmine is not very public about this talent, he has been playing guitar for years and owns an acoustic guitar.
• Along with this, Carmine is also a talented artist, but never shows anyone his art.
• Carmine also has an affinity for taking care of plants, as it reminds him of his hometown.

Trivia

• Carmine made the jacket he wears out of his school's varsity jacket. It is lined with cotton because he thought Ice Burg would be colder than it actually is.
• Carmine's favorite school subject is English
• When Carmine is uncomfortable or flustered, he tends to cross his arms or fidget with his hands.
• Like Benzaiten, Carmine has a soft spot for animals and will set aside his own needs for creatures.
• Carmine is xenophobic, speciesist, homophobic, and transphobic... yikes.
  • He's very naïve when it comes to these topics, and thus these beliefs are not very deeply rooted.
