Neptune

Description
Neptune is the 8th planet in Iaia. On Neptune, most of the grass and trees take on a purple shade. The sky itself also tends to be purple during most of the day. Though, from space, Neptune looks indigo. The equator is the most habitable spot on Iaia because of its tepid temperature most of the year. As it goes out to the poles, the temperature reaches extreme colds.
Because of Neptune's harsh temperatures, many lifeforms native to Iaia have developed natural resistance to the cold. For example, feathers, blubber, thick fur, etc. Some species even are part ice themselves. Cities outside of the equator are only habitable through the use of Hearths. Hearths are inventions that allow the cities of Neptune to control their temperature year round. Because of them, civilizations outside the equator are able to host many species other than those native to Neptune.
Neptune also has a few underwater civilizations, though not nearly as many as Uranus. Because Neptune's underwater infrastructure is not nearly as advanced as Uranus, most underwater cities in Neptune are not as technologically advanced as the overworld.
Points of Interest
This section is still a work in progress! ^^
- Frostbite Coast: The general area where Ice Burg and Glei Shore lie.
- Ice Burg: One of the cities near Glei Shore, and where most of the main cast lives.
- Glei Shore: The biggest city in the Frostbite Coast, ruled by the God of Glass.
- The Razor Snowcaps: The closest mountain range to Frostbite coast with extremely dangerous terrain.
- The Trident: A large building unable to be visited by the grueling winds of the Razor Snowcaps.
History
Before the Hearth was invented, Neptune was mostly inhabited by native species. The intelligent species of Iaia tended to live in smaller civilizations that were isolated. Even in the current day, some species still live in isolation.
After the Hearth's introduction to Neptunian society, species from every planet began to move to cities outside of the equator. These large scale immigrations were mostly sponsored by gods looking to claim or expand their reign. Glei Shore is ruled by the god of glass, who was most responsible for providing resources for immigration to the Frostbite Coast.
Trivia
- Earlier drafts of Neptune had yellow trees. I changed it because I decided paint the landscapes of Neptune for a class, and it was too difficult for me to make the yellow trees fit in. This is likely because I'm bad at environmental painting.
- Most of the cast lives on Neptune because Neptune is my favorite planet.
